mmmhhmm

i died so you could be healed
so you could live and never die
so you could live with me where there is
no pain, no fear, no hurt or death, no tears
i love you, child

"The Lord your God is with you,
he is mighty to save.
He will take great delight in you,
he will quiet you with his love,
he will rejoice over you with singing.”

Spring Poems

(a little note of explanation: When I was in third grade my teacher encouraged us to write books-stories, poetry, etc-in our free time at school and then read them to the class during a designated time slot. I apparently wrote a book of "spring poems" at one point. Reading them now I think they are slightly ridiculous and rather more like prose (actually, much more prose) than poetry, but I liked them when I wrote them. Anyway, here they are [with original grammar and spelling:)

My Birthday
My birthday is in May which is in
Spring. I like the time of year because spring
is my favorite season. I like it because
it is not to hot and not to cold. I like my
birthday which is in spring.
~
MAYFLIES
Mayflies are very, very
annoying. It seems like there
all around you. It seems like
there on you all the time. They
make me feel itchy, because there
so small and all around you. I think
Mayflies are very, very annoying.
~
The Months In Spring
The months in spring are April, May,
and June. April is the beginning of
spring, May is the month of my birthday,
and June is the end of spring.
~
I Don't Know What to Write
I don't know what to write about sprig
beside it is warm, I like spring, and I Don't like
Mayflies. Althoug I already wrote about those things,
so I thought this would be o.k.
~
Some people These Days
Some people these days are weird. Some people
these days are funny. Some people these days
like to sing. Some people these days are loud and some
people these days like to write poems like this.
(and apparently at the end of the book there was a place to write our hobbies. Mine? "writing, tailking, drawing, helping and, cleaning" and there was a place for comments from the other students. Some of them were: “I really liked your pepole these days, poem it rimed so good.” “I like your poens but they could of ryme but they were grat”)
so, yeah, in case you were wondering what my writing was like when I was 8 or 9 there it is. :)

"let us not forget" a drabbel of 100 words

I was helping in the 1-3 grade Sunday school class this past Sunday and as the kids were sharing prayer requests (mostly small things-to us anyway, God loves hearing about the scratches on their knees and their best friend's cousin who is graduating) one little girl shared that her and her whole grade at school were going to sing in front of the Governor.
Woa!” another girl exclaimed. “You get to sing in front of the Governor?!”
Oh, dear one, do you realize that you just had the privilege of singing in front of the King of kings?

Shades of White (6.9.11)

(these are all for today-i just thought they were so cool so i thought i'd post more than one for today....oh! and these are completely unedited. :)

promises for my future

The other day we were at our local high school celebrating one of my oldest (and closest) friend's graduation. As we were sitting there, burning in the hot sun, the girl who placed second in her class gave a speech. One thing she said really struck me. She was talking about the future and how none of us know what it holds (true), but as she was speaking about this she added, "we have no promises for our future" and I couldn't help but think of how dismal, hopeless, and scary the future must be for her. NO idea what the future holds, no one to run to when everyone leaves, no one to bring ALL her troubles to. I am sure this high school graduate, second in her class of two-hundred eight students has much knowledge, but all the knowledge in the world could never replace the promises God has given me. He promises to never leave me or forsake me (Deuteronomy 31:5), he promises that he knows the plans he has for me-he has plans to prosper me and not to harm me, plans to give me a hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11), he promises to answer me when I call him (Jeremiah 33:3), he promises to give me rest (Matthew 11:28), and he promises to come back for me. All I need to do is call to him-come to him. I wouldn't trade these promises for all the knowledge in the world.

Shades of White

I decided yesterday that i like having one little something that i do each day (like drabdaymomay), so this month i am going to take a picture every day with the theme of "shades of white" (or at least, it's starting out as a monthly theme, i might make it a weekly theme...).
So, without further ado, here are my first four pictures:
fence post (6.1.11)

fence (6.2.11)

broken door (6.3.11)

curtain (6.4.11)
(riveting captions-i know. :) They really are all mostly white, but I made them black and white so the focus was on the white...until next time!!
