true story

I hit a snake on the road the other day 
it was lying there coiled up in the shade

(stupid serpent-snakes like the sun)

I didn't do it on purpose-I didn't know what it was

until my mom screamed, then I knew my faux pas

(alas, my first roadkill)

I have to admit I wasn't sorry at all

I did not cry or sob or bawl,

(actually I laughed)

I know that you animal lovers will hate me

buy what can I say? It was a sight to see.

(I hate snakes.)

Dedicated to my mom who was in the passenger seat and who hates snakes more than I do.  We had a good laugh.
