on our way home from PA

last week 13 deer were killed dead by
speeding cars going too fast to stop
last week 13 deer were smooshed in half by
speeding cars going too fast to stop
last week 13 deer were broken by
speeding cars going too fast to stop
by
speeding cars going too fast to stop
on the highway

What if you were one of those deer
killed dead by
speeding cars going too fast to stop?

Lost in the Amazon...con't

In that moment I said farewell to all my greatness. I was perplexed. I was lost. I was doomed to die. But, although I had lost all hope for survival, I had not lost my resolve to live. Something in the wind told me to travel due east; I don't know if it was my natural ability to survive, my excellent tracking skills or the foot prints left in the muddy swamp, but whatever the origin of my idea, I followed my instinct and soon made it back to safety. As I willed my sopping, muddy, uncomfotable self to plod into the palace of the King of the Amazon, I looked up and saw a very disapointed look on his face-I think it was becasue I got his Persian rug dirty..he's a little obsessed, but don't tell him I said that. I have to admit, I was expecting him to exclaim that my gallantry was unmatched and that no other man had survived the Amazon with out a guide, but I guess I don't really need his approval. So, besides the ruin of my best orange shoes, and about a million mosquito bites I am having an enjoyable time here in the Amazon. As you can see, all's well that ends well. See you in a week, my love.

Yours truly,
The President of these United States of America

Lost in the Amazon

(hi guys, this is a short story i wrote for a literature class assignment and i rather liked it so i thought i'd post it. it's in the form of a letter. But, i think because it would make a rather long post, i'll do half today and half tomorrow. oh, and please excuse the typos. Disclamer: and the characters are completely made up.)

Dear my darling First Lady,
I wish this could be one of the many love letters I have composed in my mind as I think about your lovely face, which is the only thing that gives me solace in this forsaken land, but alas, it is not. I am writing to tell you of my eventful yesterday. As you already know, I am in the Amazon to have a meeting with the Amazon King. I was oblivious to the present danger. I, being the president of these United States of America, expected the utmost respect and the best possible treatment. But, as it turns out the people of the Amazon have a very different idea of respect and an even farther fetched idea of "the best treatment". They took me on a tour of the Amazon River. I, being the great outdoorsman that I am thought, "Hey, this could be fun, as the as President of these United States of America, it is my duty to expand my experiences for those less fortunate than I." But, a little ways into the walking tour, on which I insisted on wearing my best shoes (because of course, I am the president of these United States of America and must, at all times look my best), we took a "short cut" through a swamp! It was of course against my better judgment that the foolish tour guides brought us to this revolting place. Anyway, in the process of crossing the mosquito and alligator infested swamp I ruined my best shoes!!! Would you please buy me a new pair? They were my orange crocs, size 8. I was in a pickle. My tour was all the way across the swamp before I could extract my left shoe, which was almost completely submerged in the swamp, from the muck and mire. And I, being the excellent tracker that I am, thought that I'd just catch up with the rest of my group after I had gotten my other shoe out of the fathomless pit of sinking muck and so, I let them keep walking without telling anyone of my predicament. As soon as the last of the tour had trudged out of sight I turned around and commenced in pulling at my shoe and, essentially, wrestling with the mud. Finally reigning victorious over the slimy sludge that had arrested my orange shoe I turned around and, as good luck would have it, realized I was terribly lost.

Untitled

Awakened with the breath of the Lord
With a purpose in mind, fashioned and formed
Brought forth in love, creativity you poured
Created in love, me you adored

Faithful through life and faithful 'till death
You've never foresaken to my dying breath
Mountains and vaileys and treasherous roads
You've brought me through all, you I've followed

And now as I ponder this life that you've led
Considering now on my dying bed,
My life that you bought at the price of your own
You say, "Now it's time that I bring you home."

(inspired by Zephaniah 3:20)

handprints

I love
the little blue handprints
on my new pink shirt,
from the little hug she gave me
after we played with chalk.

because i don't really know what to write

i thought i'd tell you one of the things that cracks me up:

clean tights.

i know that sounds weird, but if you pull a pair of clean, wrinkly, tan, staticy panty hose out of your drawer and hold them up by the waste it is really quite a comical sight. they remind me of chicken legs... i don't know why.

poetry

rolling, rumbling, ringing through my head
rolling like a rubber ball
rumbling like a thunder drum,
ringing, ringing, ringing a melody of little bells
like music being sung
like music being sung
never ending
in all i see
lines
soft
hard
curves
bumbs
valleys
lights
bright
shadows
poetry
everywhere.

hold on one minute, i just have one more strawberry to cut up.

I like the way yellow lettuce
crunches
under my knife and
jumps
when I cut hard

and

I like the way corn
explodes
off the cob and
pops
into my mouth.

a

The "a" in that
Was by one he has not said
But what I have will be this-
The "a" was not, but all.

(I'm pretty sure I wrote this...I know that's a silly thing to say, but I have know idea how I came up with it, or what it's supposed to mean [so don't ask], or when I wrote it, or anything.)

curtains

There is something
very poetic
about
white curtains
blowing in the evening
wind-
the way the sun
lights up the
room
and the
wind
makes the curtains
bulge
and I feel the
cool breeze
on my
feet-
it reminds me of poetry.

time

Tick-time flies, life passes, the world spins, the sun sets
Tock-joy rises, we aspire, sadness falls, hope crashes
Tick-life is given, smiles spread, death steals, tears flow
Tock-life is short, death comes fast, don't waste time

typos

I constantly type wronga nd proabaly use the backsapace button more than the avutal letters keys, so for this post i decided to not ust the backespace button at all tso you all can see how many mistakes a i make while tiyping (unlss of coruse i spell somethign bad by accident, hehe). i hope yo ucan still read this. :) i thoguht maybe this would ut down on the mtyme it took to type this but instead it has made it uch harder because i keep tgoing to yhit the backspace buttion tand then remembering that i am trying to not use the backsapce button, which is really rather hard, but i think i have already astablished (read phonetically...sometimes) that ffact (that looks kind of like a sttutter :)). i tyupically don't like mistakes, but sometimes they came be qite comially, like when you spell ""uch" intead of "much", or when y9u pronounce "givens" "jivens" (i did that once-i was frustratted with math :]), those are silly mistakes.
well, folds...this post must come to an end at some point and althoguht i could keep making mistakes for a fbery long time this seems as good a place as any to end...
toodles!!
cherio!!
sianara!!
later gater!!

by the way

I got the name "beautiful inheritance" from Psalm 16:

"The LORD is my chosen portion and my cup;
you hold my lot.
The lines have fallen for me in pleasant places;
indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance."

This is Just to Say

"I will listen for
for you

I will hear
all the sounds
in the world

all the
delicious
ineffable
effable
sounds

All the
thrumming
and
humming
and
tintinnabulating
sounds

I will hear
all the sounds
in the
world

And I will write them down
so you
can
hear
them
too."
(by Karen Hesse, from her book "Hate that Cat" inspired by William Carlos Williams)
(and just for a little backround info, it's a little boy writing about his deaf mother.)

Run to Jesus

Standing on the shore, the breeze wasing my face in salty freshness, I gaze and imagine. If Jesus were out there walking on the deep azure water, the waves rolling around his ankles, and he called my name, would I come? Would I have faith to trust his might, to step foot atop the sea? Would I trust not in my own strength to hold me up, but in the power of the one who created my and the ocean? The salty water licks my feet as I edge closer to the water. I take a breath. I trust. I step. Holding me up through the waves around me, He lovingly sustains my every move. Fearless, I run to Jesus.

questions

Does anyone else think it is kind of a strange sensation publishing things on the internet for everyone and anyone to see?
Does anyone else think it is a little daunting?
Does anyone else think it is maybe a little bit selfish?
Or is it just me?
Is it just because I worry so much about what people will think of me that I overthink what I write (and say and do)?
Is it just because I think (and this really is probably true) maybe other people don't think I'm as good as I think I am?
Is it just because I fear?
Or does everyone feel this way?
Should I have posted this?

Constance

Steady,
Like rain-
falling.
Consistent,
Drumming on the ground.
No matter what,
Always
Unmoving-
God
Doesn't depend on my circumstances,
No,
He planned them all.
Doesn't depend on how I feel,
No,
He created my emotions
Doesn't depend on me at all,
Because-
He is
He was
He will always be.
